  • Rainy Day Fun for All Ages

I must admit that the Lego Wii games are the only ones I feel able to participate in with my children maybe because they are user friendly and more suitable for families than some others on the market. The graphics are great, there's a lot of laugh out loud comedy moments and the fact one doesn't die but just regenerate and lose a couple of studs makes for much happier play between my 10 yr old and his 6 yr old sister. You don't have to be a fan of the books or films to enjoy the game as my son is neither but it's the lego bit which provides the fun and fascination. Can't wait for the next one.

  • Enjoyed it but a few things got on my nerves

    Alan Coote | Jul 15, 2010

For starters this game is by the biggest in the lego series i've palyed all of the lego games and this is by far the biggest, anyway the game enviroment is one of the best and the way u access and explore hogwarts and see palces that yoyu have never seen before and palces you have which is kinda magical is realy well done and story is well done and thought out, thee main reason i have rated 3 stars, is the fact the game is dam boring i know their is never much varity in lego game except to blow things up and collect studs but you can pass away hours doing so no the main reason i find this game boring all about to do with solving puzzles and their is never realy much action at first it was realy diffrent and intresting but after a while it got very boring and repatitve while in oher lego games you got filler of chasing down and killing lego men such as lego star wars you would fight through swarms of stormtropers and then solve a quick puzzle but i harry lego potter all you do is go round solving puzzles or finding ways to knock something which hits that and kills something. Also i find the lack of labeling on the spell menu annoying and the lack naming of charecter even though you should realsie them. Overall it's been well put together with the new hubs and storys and all the shops in diagon alley, realy all it needs to be is everything it's but maybe out lego star wars in to make it more exciting, but sometimes it just drags a little when doing puzzles all the time. still buy and see you might enjoy it

  • The "Lego" series triumphs again

    Aremess | Jul 15, 2010

I'm writing this review without seeing anyone else's so I am not influenced by them.

    Pros:
    1. It's like the previous "Lego" games
    2. It's great fun
    3. It contains typical "Lego" games humour
    4. It's easy(ish) to play but there are still parts that require the player to think

    Cons:
    1. It's like the previous "Lego" games
    2. You can't bypass the 'story' sections before getting to the game sections

Why 4 stars and not 5?
    1. Players may not like its similarity to previous "Lego" incarnations
    2. My second item in the Cons section above - my Grandson got very annoyed waiting to play some of the scenes - the player should be allowed to bypass these sections.

I strongly recommend this to "Lego" game fans and Harry Potter fans alike (the latter will love the small changes to the story lines to make a humorous scene from a non-humorous situation). Overall an excellent game and, despite its repeatedly delayed availability date, well worth waiting for.

  • Love it!

    ronspencer_uk | Jul 15, 2010

My grandsons (7 and 4) LOVE IT! Mind you so do their parents (35 and 33). Too complicated for me and the wife though (61 and 60).

  • Beautiful, fun but clunky

    Middleagedgamer | Jul 15, 2010

I'm a fan of the Lego games - having played them all and so was very much looking forward to this game. In many ways it hasn't disappointed. The scenes are beautiful and it is very faithful to the films (and mostly to the books too). The characters are easily recognisable. The clips are funny. But it is a much clunkier game than Indiana Jones, Batman or Star Wars. It is fun learning how to use the different spells but having to choose between them slows down the game (meaning you lose lives while switching from one to another) or the game sometimes chooses the spell for you - which seems fairly pointless. And a couple of times I've got completely stuck and had to re-start the level because I'd blasted something which was then needed to move something else (ie the books fell off the toilet seat in the girls' bathroom so I couldn't climb onto the platforms (level 2)) whereas in the previous games, part of the fun was blasting everything to pieces knowing that the important parts of the level couldn't be destroyed or would be re-set. My other gripe is that, in some of the levels, it is very difficult to work out what to do while in some others it is very very simple. The game plays as a rushed release without all the polish and finesse that one expects of the Lego games. Would I recommend it? Yes. I'll finish the game and probably enjoy it but with a little sense of disappointment.
